    Motor Mechanic

    The role

    A full -time qualified motor mechanic is required to join our modern and well established workshop located in prime location of south eastern Melbourne at Cheltenham.

    Our client is a technologically advanced workshop, equipped and qualified to service and repair sports, luxury vehicles. They pride ourselves in delivering honest and quality service, which has established their loyal customer base of repeat clients who have trusted their vehicles to be serviced with them.

     

    The duties

    Your main role will be to perform inspecting customer’s vehicles and various other vehicle inspections. You will be required to inspect, road test, then input reports into computer, also perform servicing and repair to vehicles. There will be other general motor mechanic duties such as:

    • listen to engines, fit and operate special test equipment, and test-drive vehicles

    • repair or replace worn or faulty parts by removing assemblies such as engines, transmissions, differentials or steering gear systems; dismantling them and checking parts, referring to manuals as necessary

    • reassemble, test, clean and adjust repaired or replaced parts or assemblies, using various instruments to make sure they are working properly and putting them back into the vehicle

    • tune engines using special electronic equipment and make fine adjustments (to carburettors, for example) for smoother running

    • carry out minor body and trim repairs

    • diagnose, repair and replace engine management and fuel injection components

    • use oxy, electric, TIG and MIG welders

    • test and repair electrical systems such as lighting, instrumentation, ignition and electronic fuel injection

     

    The opportunity

    The successful applicant will have a keen eye for details and accuracy, must be a team player to fit into our friendly and knowledgeable crew. He or she will also possess an Australian Certificate 4 qualification in motor mechanics and will have at least 12 months of relevant experience.
