Gardener

About the Role:

Our client is currently seeking a Gardener to be responsible for growing and cultivating all types of plants in a variety of green spaces. If you are passionate about nature and the environment, this could be the varied and fulfilling career that you're looking for!

You will be involved in designing planting schemes for gardens; using your plant knowledge to ensure that the garden has something to offer all year round; and you will be working on gardens in a wide variety of settings such as:

• private gardens

• public parks and community gardens

• botanical gardens

• gardens at heritage sites

The Responsibilities:

• Raising plants from seeds or cuttings

• Digging, planting and weeding

• Checking and controlling health of plants by identifying any pests or diseases 

• Applying nutrients to plants and maintaining moisture levels

• Maintaining high levels of presentation in public parks and gardens

• Using, cleaning and maintaining tools and equipment.

The Requirements:

• Diploma in Horticulture or equivalent qualification

• At least 1 year of experience in a similar role

• An eye for detail and a desire to carry out high quality work

• Physically fit and have good communication skills

• Self-motivated, reliable and honest

• Able to work independently and be part of a team

• Hold a current driver’s license

• Common sense, practical skills, a willingness to learn and to assist with physical aspects of work

• Must have good presentation with a friendly personality
