    The Client

    Situated in Windsor, Victoria, our latest client is a restaurant that specialises in Australian and Italian cuisine. The restaurant prides itself on its exquisite menu of comfort food based on fresh local produce, served and presented with excellent customer service.

     

     

    The Role

    You will have the opportunity to work within a growing business, which will supply you with career progression opportunities in the long term.  You will be a proactive Cook with a professional approach.

     

     

    The Responsibilities:

    • Preparing authentic and creative pasta and risotto dishes while maintaining quality standards;

    • Striving to develop high quality, innovative and original pasta menu offerings for guests;

    • Training and developing other culinary team members on the art of pasta making;

    • Developing and following recipes, portion controls and presentation specification as set by the restaurant;

    • Cleaning food prep areas, equipment, utensils and strictly adhering to sanitation, food safety, hygiene, and other health and safety guidelines;

    • Complying with food health and safety compliance principles along with associated administrative duties;

    • Planning of Weekly/Monthly/Seasonal menus, requisitioning/receiving and storing of all kitchen supplies;

    • Stock control and assistance in ordering procedures in line with budget requirements;

    • Following the FIFO method to maximize freshness;

    • Managing and maintaining a clean working environment;

    • General pantry duties and maintaining cleanliness of pantry, fridges and freezers.

     

    The Requirements:

    • At least 2 years of professional commercial cooking experience

    • Ability to prepare and produce menu items to established recipes and methods

    • Formal training in cookery will be advantageous but suitable experience will also be highly regarded (Certificate III in Cookery and/or equivalent)

    • Possess sound knowledge of food hygiene practices and HACCP

    • Ability to handle pressure in a professional manner

    • Available for shift and weekend work typical of hospitality

    • A positive attitude and works well as part of the team

    • Proven ability to work unsupervised when required

    • Be motivated to produce fantastic, quality food
